SPH Magazines Integrates Hardware Zone To Be Region’s Unique Publishing Powerhouse

SINGAPORE, 16 June 2008 – SPH Magazines Pte Ltd (“SPH Magazines”) is pleased to announce that the operations of its wholly owned subsidiary, Hardware Zone Pte Ltd (“Hardware Zone”), will be integrated with SPH Magazines. This exercise is a strategic move by SPH Magazines to galvanise its operational structure and presence through harmonising the different functions within the two operational structures in order to harness synergies and optimise efficiencies.

On integration which will officially take place on 1 January 2009, the business of the current Hardware Zone titles, HWM, GameAxis Unwired, PHOTOVIDEOi and www.hardwarezone.com will be transferred to SPH Magazines to operate under the Lifestyle Division. The Lifestyle Division produces all of SPH Magazines’ newsstand titles such as Her World, Female, Simply Her, Torque, Young Parents and Home and Decor, to name a few.

The Lifestyle Division will, at the same time, be reorganised to facilitate the integration and also expand its scope of business to include SPH Magazines’ online arm. This Division will continue to be led by Mr Allen Loh, Managing Director of SPH Magazines and assisted by Mr Eugene Low as his new Deputy Managing Director. Mr Low is the current Managing Director of Hardware Zone.

Upon integration, Lifestyle Division will consist of three main units, Fashion & Beauty *, Men’s and Special Interests* and the newly created online unit entitled New Media. General Manager, Ms Irene Tan, will oversee the Fashion and Beauty, and Mr Lim Chuan Jer, currently, General Manager of Hardware Zone will oversee New Media as its General Manager and manage the online sales and content of www.hardwarezone.com and all other product websites. Men’s and Special Interests will report directly to Mr Allen Loh.

In the reorganisation of the Lifestyle Division titles, ICON will now reside under the Specialist Division, Luxury, which continues to manage The Peak. Specialist Division is managed by Mr Dennis Pua, Managing Director of SPH Magazines. He is assisted by Mr Adrian Chue, General Manager, who will head Luxury and Mr Christopher Tay, General Manager, who will lead Custom which tailors and produces high calibre titles on behalf of SPH Magazines’ esteemed clients such as Singapore Airlines, Oneo15 Marina Club, several government agencies, among others.

Hardware Zone upon the integration of all its print and online titles into SPH Magazines will then concentrate on developing and growing the search engine marketing business and also position itself to be an online research and development and technology services firm. Mr Jackie Lee, will remain CEO of Hardware Zone and duly assisted by Mr Jereme Wong as Chief Operating Officer and Mr Joe Ang as Chief Technology Officer.

All editorial teams will report to the Group Editor in Chief, Ms Caroline Ngui, through each of their respective group editors.

All staff of Hardware Zone will move to 82 Genting Lane, Media Centre by January 2009 to fully integrate with parent, SPH Magazines.
